What films I'm reviewing in September-October
I’m changing how I’m going to run Into the Screen.
Don’t worry. I’ll still write one film review a week. The content will be the same. I’ll just change how I’ll deliver it.
Up until now, I’ve reviewed films hopscotch-style. When a new week came, I looked at what was in cinemas and if nothing looked good I looked what classic films I could get my hands on to watch.
This might have been more convenient for me but I don’t think it was delivering the greatest value to you, my readers, and that won’t do. I want to make it worth your while to invest your time, energy and (hopefully) money into this magazine.
So from now on, what I’ll do is this:
I’ll let you know in advance what films I’ll be reviewing in the next month with my What films I’m reviewing in DATE posts that will be accessible only to paid subscribers. Just please be aware that the months by which I organise my publishing schedule don’t align perfectly with the calendar months. I’ll tell you the dates.
I won’t just review whatever films catch my fancy or that I can grab. I’ll be more deliberate. I’ll review:
2 films out in cinemas that you can go watch (In Cinemas Now), so if you take my word as a good guide you can use it to decide what films on offer at your nearest cinema are worth your time and money.
1 classic film (Classic), so you can get an opinion on the most vaunted (both deservedly and undeservedly) idols in the film canon.
1 film by a particular director or starring a particular film star whose work I’m studying (Director/Star In Focus), so that like me you can become an expert in a great or neglected director or star. I will focus on one director or star at a time for several months and will conclude each Director/Star In Focus series with an essay on the director or star accessible only to paid subscribers.
I hope this way, all my readers can get more value out of my reviews.
Take a look at my first What films I’m reviewing post below.
